The Hillary Clinton campaign announced another surrogate will be headed to New Mexico for events to promote early voting.

Anne Holton, the wife of Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, will make campaign appearances in Albuquerque and Santa Fe on Thursday and Friday.

Holton will hold a “roundtable on education kids and families” in Albuquerque on Thursday. A little more than an hour after that, Holton will hold a “women to women phone bank” in Albuquerque.

The next day, Holton will head up to Santa Fe for a canvassing event.

In recent elections, Democrats have pushed for early voting as a way to avoid long lines on Election Day. In New Mexico, early voting has increased in each of the past three presidential elections.

In 2004, early voting made up 30.5 percent of the vote, in 2008 it made up 41.7 percent of the vote and in 2012, it made up 47.6 percent of the vote. Meanwhile, absentee voting dropped to just 11.3 percent in 2012 after staying steady at just over 20 percent in 2004 and 2008.

While Holton isn’t the most high-profile Clinton surrogate, others have come to New Mexico in recent days. Last week, U.S. Senator and former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders campaigned at the University of New Mexico. Later, Clinton political director Amanda Renteria campaigned in Albuquerque and Shiprock for state legislative candidates.

On the Republican side, vice presidential nominee Mike Pence held a campaign rally in Albuquerque last week in support of the Donald Trump campaign.
