1. Heinrich at energy forum in DC
U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich will take part in an energy forum put together by The Hill at 6:30 a.m. local time. Why so early? Because it’s at the Newseum in Washington D.C.

Heinrich, who sits on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, will be joined by that committee’s chair, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, Microgrids North America, Abb Inc. General Manager Nathan Adams, PEPCO Holdings Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Bill Gausman, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy & Environment Katherine Hammack and Senior Manager of Grid Modernization and Military Energy Systems Group at Sandia National Laboratories Charles Haley.
In other words, a lot of experts in that room.
2. Ride an electric bus
No, it isn’t some lyrics from Mellow Yellow, but something folks in Albuquerque can do tomorrow.
This is the second test of an electric bus on the Route #40/D-Ride in Downtown Albuquerque; an articulated electric bus will service the Route #766-Rapid Ride/Red Line today as well.
The buses are from BYD Electric in California.
“We are studying these buses for technology considerations,” ABQ RIDE Director Bruce Rizzieri said in a statement earlier this week. “If there are ‘zero emission’ transit vehicles available that can meet Albuquerque’s transit needs, and lower our carbon footprint, I want to take a look at how these vehicles operate on the road.”
3. Recount costs due in Las Cruces
The two candidates who requested recounts in Las Cruces elections (the recounts did not change the results) will have to pony up by today. The total cost for the recount was $5,368.08 to which Eli Guzman and Richard A. Hall are “are both jointly and severally liable.”
The recount found no changes in the votes. Kasandra Gandara and Jack Eakman won election to the city council as part of a sweep by progressives in the state’s second-largest city.
Honorable Mention:
In a very pun-filled announcement (the title was “HOLLY-Day HOLM-Coming Parade and Ceremony) the city of Albuquerque announced the parade route for Sunday, December 6’s parade honoring the UFC women’s bantamweight champion.
The parade at 1:00 p.m. will start at 1st and Central Ave., head west on Central to 6th St. The parade will continue west, then turn north on 6th to Tijeras Ave., before heading east on Tijeras to 3rd Street, finally ending at Civic Plaza.
Also from the release: “This event will also be an opportunity to donate non-perishable items and winter clothing for the benefit of the Albuquerque Rescue Mission and the Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home.”
