Pence headed back to NM to campaign for Trump

It appears the Donald Trump campaign really believes that New Mexico is in play. Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, is headed back to New Mexico for another campaign event.

Pence will be at Las Cruces for a rally this Wednesday, at Southwest Aviation, according to the Trump campaign website. It’s part of the vice presidential hopeful’s busy schedule that has him in Loveland, Colorado later that same day. Tuesday, Pence will be campaigning in Pennsylvania.

The Las Cruces rally is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m., with doors opening at noon.

This will be the fifth event from either Trump or Pence and the second event outside of Albuquerque. Pence held a Roswell campaign rally in August, on the same day he also held an Albuquerque rally.

While Trump and Pence have held these rallies in New Mexico, including a Trump visit to Albuquerque just this week, the Democratic presidential ticket hasn’t come to New Mexico this year for any campaign rallies.

At his campaign rally Sunday night, Trump promised he would win New Mexico on his way to winning the presidential election.

Public polling has shown Clinton with an advantage over Trump both in New Mexico and in other key states, such as Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Bernie Sanders, the U.S. Senator who challenged Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary and then endorsed her after he lost, campaigned for Clinton in Albuquerque earlier this month at the University of New Mexico.

Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson also held a University of New Mexico campaign rally in October. Johnson will also hold a campaign rally next Monday, the day before Election Day.

Update: Added time for event to post.
