• Michelle Lujan Grisham once again outraised and outspent Steve Pearce in the race for governor. But Pearce has more cash on hand for the final for weeks of the campaign, the Santa Fe New Mexican reports. The newspaper also looked at money raised and spent by outside groups in the most recent campaign finance report period.

• Republican Yvette Herrell released an internal poll to Roll Call that showed her up 4 percentage points over Xochitl Torres Small in the hard-fought 2nd Congressional District race. The poll was by The Tarrance Group, and has a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percentage points.
• State Rep. Monica Youngblood, R-Albuquerque, was sentenced to one day in jail along with a one year probation for her DWI. She could still appeal the conviction, but if she does not, she would need to serve her one day in jail by Oct. 19.
  The Democratic Party of New Mexico called on her to resign.
• The Santa Fe Reporter wrote about Attorney General Hector Balderas as he seeks a second term. What kind of cases does the Democrat focus on? What do his opponents think about his nearly four years in office?
• The Mick Rich campaign is going after Gary Johnson. The campaign made videos criticizing the former governor for appearing on “liberal media” TV shows and saying htat Johnson “HATES Donald Trump – and his voters.” He also has Facebook ads criticizing Johnson, and Heinrich.
• Johnson called Rich’s answers at a candidate’s forum in Deming “bullshit,” according to the Deming Headlight.
  “I am a Catholic, I am Christian-Catholic, and I believe in the sanctity of life,” Rich said. “I am the only one running for the U.S Senate that doesn’t believe that abortion up to the point of delivery is okay.”
  “That’s bull___t,” Johnson claimed.
• Mick Rich also attended a candidates forum in Carlsbad last week where candidates discussed the oil and gas and nuclear industries. He was the only U.S. Senate candidate to attend. State Land Commissioner candidate Stephanie Garcia Richard was the lone Democrat to attend, the Carlsbad Current-Argus reported.
• Andy Lyman looked at problems that Mick Rich’s construction company has had with a project at the New Mexico Military Institute. The project has seen numerous delays and is a year behind schedule.
