Support NM Political Report this Giving Tuesday

This year, we saw the importance of good, reliable, respected news.

NM Political Report has been a respected news organization in the state for nearly six years now. We first started publishing stories in January 2015. And that extended through this year’s elections that saw a major shift in the state Senate to the left, a new U.S. Senator and a further sign that New Mexico is a safe Democratic seat on the presidential level.

At the same time, we continued to cover important issues that don’t get as much coverage from other outlets, as newsrooms continue to shrink: environmental issues, reproductive justice issues and tracking the state medical cannabis system.

All of this came as we covered the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the world, including New Mexico. We had to change the way we did our work, with less in-person interviews and more reliance on Zoom and phone interviews. This isn’t a unique story, as other news outlets (and other companies) shifted to the same process.

To do all of this, we need support from our readers.

Want to make sure we can keep the best political coverage in the state? Donate!

We don’t have a big corporation funding us. We don’t have a billionaire sending money every month. Instead, we have our readers

In our nearly six years of publishing, we’ve broken big stories. We’ve started coverage on stories that ended up with attention from national outlets.

And we want to keep pushing the envelope on covering these important issues and more in 2021. There will be a key legislative session in January, again in the shadow of COVID-19, an Albuquerque mayoral election in the fall and two new members of Congress to watch. This with a new presidential administration will mean a lot of change in New Mexico

So please, donate today.
