The New Mexico State Capitol, or Roundhouse Wikicommons.

—The early childhood constitutional amendment to tap the land grant permanent fund passed the Senate Judiciary Committee quickly on Monday. The committee did not have any discussion before passing it on a party-line vote. —Sen. Cliff Pirtle is a father; an announcement on the House floor Monday morning, one of his colleagues said that Hamish George Pirtle was born healthy and Senator Pirtle is expected to be back in a few days.

—Sen. John Arthur Smith: “I feel much better today than Cam Newton does.”

—Monday was “Film Day” at the New Mexico State Legislature. When the Senate was debating a memorial on that point, Sen. Michael Sanchez, D-Belen, asked Sen. Lisa Torraco, R-Albuquerque, about the first movie filmed in New Mexico. She said it was in 1920; he said, no, it was by Thomas Edison in 1898. Here’s the clip on YouTube.
