Dianna Duran’s first public appearance since her release from jail was not the most impressive one.

Duran spoke to the organization Albuquerque Wings for Life. Part of her sentence requires her to make four speeches to community groups per month. At least one of these will need to be at an educational setting.
She is supposed to speak about the government and the crimes that she committed.
The speech wasn’t a long one.

She spoke for five minutes and she never specifically remembered her gambling addiction or the 30 days she spent in jail.
KOAT said that Duran did not answer any questions.
KRQE-TV reported Duran showed up 40 minutes late.
She apologized after arriving 40 minutes late, saying she called an hour before the event to warn that she was running behind on the drive to Albuquerque from Tularosa.
Duran lives in Tularosa.
She also will need to complete 2,000 hours of community service over the next four years.
Duran spent 30 days in jail from December into January for misuse of campaign money, using them for personal issues, including gambling.
She pleaded guilty in October to embezzling campaign money for personal use, which she later admitted was part of a gambling addiction. She resigned from office that same month after serving as Secretary of State for five years.
