Lujan Grisham scheduled to speak at DNC

U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham is expected to speak at next week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The Democratic National Convention Committee released a partial list of scheduled speakers and that list included Lujan Grisham, who represents the Albuquerque area in New Mexico.

She is the only New Mexican included on the list.

Every Democratic member of the congressional delegation endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.

In 2008 Bill Richardson, who was governor at the time, spoke on the final night of the DNC in Denver. In 2012, Gov. Susana Martinez gave a well-regarded speech at the RNC.

U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan also appeared onstage at the 2008 DNC, though he did not speak.

Lujan may play some role at the DNC, since he is the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, a group whose purpose is to elect Democrats to Congress.

Others on the list distributed by the DNCC include U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Gov. Jerry Brown of California, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Former president Bill Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont were previously announced for prime-time speaking spots at the convention.
