Just two weeks until Christmas and three weeks until 2016.

Anyway, here are three things to look for on Friday, December 11.

1. Supreme Court swearing in
The newest Supreme Court Justice will be sworn in this afternoon in Albuquerque.
Judith Nakamura will be sworn in at Balloon Fiesta Park; according to the press release from the Administrative Office of the Courts, Nakamura is “an avid balloonist” so that makes sense.
Nakamura was appointed by Gov. Susana Martinez last month to replace retiring Justice Richard Bosson. If she wants to keep the spot on the state’s high court, she will face a partisan election in 2016.
Nakamura has served on the Second Judicial District Court since 2013, when she was appointed by Martinez.
2. ABQ mayor on NM In Focus
Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry will be on New Mexico In Focus tonight and talk about entrepreneurship in the city.
The New Mexico PBS show will also feature former State Rep. Dan Foley, former State Sen. Eric Griego, Garrity Group PR owner Tom Garrity and attorney Laura Sanchez-Rivét talking about issues from this week, including the latest on teacher evaluations.
3. Capital outlay talk by LFC
The Legislative Finance Committee finishes its five-day committee hearing, an important one with the legislative session a little more than a month away, this morning.
The interim committee will hear about capital outlay before a brief staff report. An executive session for a final review will take place before the committee adjourns.
The next LFC meeting will be in January, the day before the legislative session begins.

As a small programming note, the “Three things to look for” feature will not be appearing form December 21, 2015 to January 1, 2016. It will be back after that point, however.
