Haaland pitched bigger state Child Tax Credit and Working Families Tax Credit payments. She also said continuing the state’s shift to clean energy will lower utility bills.
She wants to make sure families “can pay their rent and buy groceries at the same time,” Haaland said.
Whitmer, who leaves office in January, said governors “really are the front line of making sure we are creating opportunities for people.”
Hull, a three-term former Rio Rancho mayor, didn’t roll out the welcome mat. He told the Albuquerque Journal that Haaland “can’t run for governor without bringing in her pals from Washington, Michigan, and elsewhere.”
Hull said more than 98% of his donors in the latest reporting period live in New Mexico.
