Hello fellow political junkies!
The election is over (finally) but the work of government continues as does the work of covering and chronicling the government and the effects of its actions.
The horse race is over, now the work begins. We can put away the word “unprecedented” at least until the new year and all of the other words that became trite over the last year.
Meanwhile, in New Mexico, everyone who was up for re-election in the congressional delegation won, which means for the first time since Steve Pearce, the 2nd Congressional District has a representative for more than one term.
Pearce currently serves as the Republican Party of New Mexico chairman. He stepped down from congressional seat to run for governor in 2016.
Other coverage by NM Political Report included Sen. Martin Heinrich retaining his senate seat for a third term, the state legislature races, the other two congressional seats, that Vice President Kamala Harris won in New Mexico and election reactions from state leadership.
The NM Political Report previously covered Project 2025 and what it could mean to New Mexicans. Even though President-Elect Donald Trump attempted to distance himself from Project 2025, its mandates could be enforced once he takes office in January.
