President Donald Trump’s approval rating keeps dropping in New Mexico..

The pollster Morning Consult found that in August just 40 percent of registered voters approved of his job performance, while 56 percent disapproved.

That’s down a couple of points from July, when 42 percent of New Mexico registered voters said they approved of Trump’s job performance and 55 percent said they disapproved.

The last time Trump’s approval rating in New Mexico was at or below 40 percent in the Morning Consult poll was in January.

Data from Morning Consult

Donald Trump approval rating by month, from Jan. 2017 to Aug. 2018.

Nationwide, the president’s approval rating is 42 percent, while his disapproval is 53 percent. New Mexico is one of 27 states (and Washington D.C.) where more registered voters disapprove of Trump’s job performance than approve.

New Mexico remains the state with the biggest drop in approval ratings since Morning Consult began asking in Jan. 2017, at the start of Trump’s term in office. At that time, 52 percent of New Mexico registered voters approved of his job performance while just 35 percent disapproved.

The new data comes from surveys of at total of 130,486 registered voters across all 50 states and Washington D.C between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points in New Mexico. The margins of error vary by state.
